Final Major Project

Convert the Waterloo Fire Station (Waterloo Rd, London SE1
8SB) into the B.S.L.Community Headquarters where all employees are fluent in BSL and Braille.
This space aims to facilitate the social experience of those affected by the loss of senses: deaf, hard hearing, or use BSL to communicate/Aphasia (being comfortable interacting with other people).


The concept is “ Feeling HEARD”:
Nonverbal space where someone affected by sensory loss
(Deaf- Hard hearing- Aphasia) can feel heard by relying on
other senses (especially sight). The space will allow the client to amplify his/ her peripheral view with transparent and reflective surfaces and play with proximity to facilitate sensory reach and face-to-face communications.
